Brand Case Study

My experience working for ZippyPaws as their Graphic Designer/Creative Lead has taught me a lot about the importance of a solid brand image. My role has allowed me to be an integral part of a growing, flourishing business, and has given me the opportunity to help successfully visualize and develop a strong brand. Whether it’s print advertisements, yearly catalogs, product packaging, web design, photoshoots, or content creating; I have had my hands in everything visual.

Product Catalogs

Product Catalogs are the most important projects all year. They are essential to business, as most sales happen from distributors and wholesalers looking through them. That’s why this project has always been a core project I refine and push the hardest. Each catalog comes with ways to learn and grow, but overall, they have come a long way since I started with the company in 2017.

The goal is always to create a clear, easy to understand catalog that encompasses who ZippyPaws is as a brand. ZippyPaws’ mission is to show their customers that dogs can be more than a pet, they can be part of the family. Whether that’s being a foodie, cuddling up with a stuffed animal, or celebrating the holidays, ZippyPaws pups are able to participate. ZippyPaws pushes to promote themselves as a bright, playful company that seeks to bring the whole family together, and the catalogs successfully emulate that.

This new Catalog design came with updated structure, layout, imagery, graphics, and type. Its updated look and feel allowed the company to present to a more modern audience, with relatable products in their more natural settings. It shows off the products clearly and simply, without taking away from their bright color and playful character.

Product Packaging

Product packaging was the first project I was tasked with when I began at ZippyPaws. It has been the most extensive and detailed project I’ve had to tackle, solely due to the amount of different types of packaging I had to create and tie together into one cohesive identity. From large to small, box to header card, Holiday to Halloween, I had to find a way to make the overall design move gracefully across all products while keeping true to the brand’s look and feel.

Print Advertisements

Print Advertisements for ZippyPaws can vary from informational campaigns to campaigns that solely push a feeling or emotion. Whether it’s in a booklet for a trade show, a business magazine, or even a consumer audience - ZippyPaws sets the bar for pet products. With so much color in the imagery and products, simple designs and small amounts of content go a long way. When opening up a magazine, ZippyPaws wants their ad to stand out above the rest and to stick in your head after you’re finished looking through.

Business Cards

With such a fun brand, it would be easy to push that feeling of playfulness too far. With these updated business cards, I decided to stick to a clean, professional layout on the front with clean lines and small amounts of color, but allowed the back of the card to show through to the whimsical vibe of ZippyPaws. Even though ZippyPaws is professional and reliable, the ‘woof’ on the back shows they still make room for a little fun.

Website Design

ZippyPaws’ new website allows the consumer to really understand the emotions and genuine heart behind the brand. The straight-forward product site was transformed to one with an experience in mind, allowing the consumer to now search for products in quite a few different ways. This update enabled us to add a blog, a shop by size feature, a chat with customer service section, and much more.

Color was a huge focus of this update, as we took the time to hone in on the brand’s image before we began the overhaul process. Along with the addition of more color, updated fonts and imagery were also added. Overall, the consumer’s shopping experience went from a simple product search, to a time where the consumer can really get behind the brand as they understand what ZippyPaws stands for, how products are made, and how those products will look in the consumer’s own home.
