Move Magazine

This magazine was a collaborative piece- including the work of my lovely friends: Jenna Mohn and Jonathan Logerstedt.

I knocked out everything from branding, to layout, to the look and feel of the magazine itself with Jonathan, Jenna shot the imagery, and we all participated in the identity of our magazine.

In this magazine, we tried to conceptualize what the journey out of stagnation looks and feels like, the experience of stepping into something electric. It takes waking up, turning around, and throwing up your arms, shaking and giggling as you move forward into newness. It takes inviting people to the party."

We used our advertisements as a way to remind our readers that it is not only okay, but healthy to rest and refresh once in a while. It also allowed us to break up our stories in a creative fashion. Our four fashion stories each serve a purpose and flow perfectly with our articles. The photo stories start of more grunge, and as you make your way through, they slowly start to become more and more clean. This allows us to show the journey of movement in a way other than our articles. Our story of movement, the journey in itself, is hard work. When you begin this journey, its going to start off rocky and grungy and dirty, but as you head down this road, as you wake up, turn around, and start moving, your life might begin to look a bit more organized, and clean. The shapes serve a purpose as well. Squares symbolize sleep, the wavy lines symbolize the hopes and dreams of movement, triangles and half circles all exemplify turning, shaping yourself into something much different than you have been. Lastly, our circles are the epitome of movement. Circles roll.
